Back ground history

About Cyclone Nargis.   In 2nd and 3rd, May 2008, Cyclone Nargis hit the delta areas of Myanmar and Yagon division. There are about 0.15 million of people are lost their lives and about 1.5 million of people are become victims at cyclone Nargis hit areas. The Government; the United Nations; The Tripartite Core Groups (TCG), the world wide donors; the local donors; the volunteers; and religious affairs are help to the disasters for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the victims by means of the humanitarian.

About Main Ma Hla Kyun  wildlife sanctuary

Located at between 10’05 N and 95’18 E in Bogale township; Ayawaddy division; south west of Myanmar. The sanctuary occupied 52.79 square miles, covered with mangrove forest such as Kanaso,Madama; Thame; Thayaw; Kambala; and  Thin baung; etc. The forest is home for the habitats of birds, mammals, fishes, prawns and wild crocodiles. The sanctuary stands as to protect and conserve the degraded mangrove ecosystem; to preserve remnant mangrove forest; to keep the areas as breeding ground, particularly for fish and prawn. Also to implement conservation programme for endangered estuarine crocodiles, the sanctuary is needed to participate not only international organizations but also local participation. Local community development is a part of environmental understanding and nature conservation.    

About ASI KYI village

The project implementer choice a village which is called ASI KYI. The village is one of the closest village of Main Ma Hla kyun wildlife sanctuary .The village is at the opposite site of the Htaw  Pine camp of MMHK- W.S. The village occupied with 250 populations; one primary school; one monastery. The head monk maintain one orphanage school with about 50 orphans. The village was totally destroyed by cyclone Nargis. Now it is still under the reconstruction stage.

The supported programme to MMHK- W.S. and ASIKYI village from SST Tourism co; Ltd

SST Tourism Co. Ltd is always emphasizes on community based eco tourism. MMHK- W.S. is one of tour sites for SST.. We visited to there several times. Before cyclone Nargis hit we visit there with co-operation of the W.S .park’s warden and his staffs and visit to local community. We SST is always pleased to support to the protected areas staff and local community various kinds of items such as the educational supplies, field equipments, books, magazine, and journals. After Nargis hit, we SST went to Mein Ma Hla wildlife sanctuary and brought some clothes to staff and local community from 5 July08 to 9 July08 with the help of park warden and his staffs. This is our first step to support local people needs at the protected area people after Nargis hit. Our special request is to visit to our site in detail and to help our small project as you can. We invite that to form the co-operation by means of the humanitarian and the nature conservation .We are happy if you give the favor to contact to us for our small project.
