Myanmar (Burma) Birds Watching Tour Itinerary : XV

8 Days Myanmar Birds and Crocodile Watching Tour to Ayeyarwaddy Delta (South Myanmar)
To see some speciality Myanmar (South East Asian) birds and Crocodiles

Itinerary 

Day 1: Yangon (Myanmar, formerly Burma) arrival day
Arrive at Yangon international airport. Transfer and check in the hotel. If we have time we will do Yangon City birds watching where Little Grebe, Bronze-winged and Pheasant-tailed Jacanas, Lesser Whistling Duck, Common Moorhen, Oriental Darter, Little cormorant, Coppersmith Barbet, Mynas, Bee-eaters, Bulbuls, Tailorbird, Prinia and other birds will be seen. Overnight will be at hotel in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon – Bogalay
In the morning we will go to Bogalay by cruise (about 9 hours). We will be birds watching on the way. Overnight will be at guest house in Bogalay.

Day 3: Bogalay – Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary
Morning, boat ride on Bogalay River for go to Meinmahla Kyun. We will do birds watching on the way. Overnight will be at forest guest house. 

Day 4 – 5: Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary
We will do birds watching and crocodile watching two full days at Meinmahla Kyun by boat. During the day time we will do birds watching and we will do crocodile watching by spot light at night. Lesser Adjutant, Woolly-necked Stork, Black-headed and Glossy Ibises, Lesser Whistling Duck, Ruddy Shelduck, Ruddy-breasted Crake, White-breasted Waterhen, Caspian, Little, Whiskered, White-winged and Gull-billed Terns, a lot of shorebird, Greater and Common Flamebacks, Fulvous-breasted and Streak-throated Woodpeckers, Brown-winged, Black-capped and Ruddy Kingfishers, Alexandrine and Red-breasted Parakeets, Vernal Hanging Parrot, Brown Fish Owl, Large-tailed Nightjar, Indian Spotted and White-bellied Sea Eagles, Harriers, Mangrove Whistler, Racket-tailed Treepie, Green-billed Malkoha, Mangrove Pitta, Great Tit, Vinous-breasted and Asian Pied Starlings, Plain and Yellow-bellied Prinias, Brown-throated Sunbird and other birds. Overnight will be at forest guest house.

Day 6: Meinmahla Kyun – Bogalay – Yangon
In the morning we will back to Bagalay and we will back to Yangon by night cruise. Overnight will be on cruise.

Day 7: Yangon – Hlawga Wildlife Park
In the morning, after arrival we will check in hotel and we will drive to Hlawga Wildlife Park to do birds watching. Here we will be able to see the rare Pale-capped Pigeon, Racket-tailed Treepie again, Red Junglefowl, Green, Blue-tailed and Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters, Green-billed Malkoha again, Lesser Racket-tailed and Greater Racket-tailed Drongos, White-rumped Shama, Black-headed, Black-crested, Red-vented, Red-whiskered, Stripe-throated with red eyes which is only found in south Myanmar and near-endemic Streak-eared Bulbuls, White-crested and Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrushes, Puff-throated and Chestnut-capped Babblers, Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Ruby-cheeked, Olive-backed and Purple Sunbirds, some water birds such as Oriental Darter, Spot-billed Duck, Cotton Pygmy Goose, Common Moorhen, Red-wattled Lapwing, Little Ringed Plover and others. We can also see wintering birds such as Osprey, Black-naped Oriole, Spotted Redshank, Painted Stork, Asian Openbill, Black-naped Oriole, Black-winged Cuckooshrike, Oriental Reed, Greenish and Yellow-browed Warblers and Forest Wagtail. Late afternoon we will drive back to Yangon. Overnight will be at hotel in Yangon.

Day 8: Departure
City tour or visit to famous Shwedagon Pagoda, the city's primary Landmark, with its magnificent golden stupa. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for the departure flight at your flight time.

Notes

The best time to go is during November to May.

Fitness: The tour does not require a high level of fitness but particularly should be in good general health.
Accommodation:
Twin sharing room. The guest houses at Bogalay and Meinmahla Kyun are basic.
Climate: The conditions are usually hot during the sunny day but cool in the early morning. Raining conditions are unlikely but possible.
Equipment: Recommended gear to bring is sun hat, sun cream, flash light, raincoat and fleece-jacket.
Group Size: Minimum 2- Maximum 10
