It is situated in southern part of the country and is 180.05 sq km in extent. Vegetation is primarily tropical rain forest. In this area Goral, Gaur, Bear, Sambhur Deer, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Monkey, Gibbon and other mammals may be viewed. Only 68 species of bird have been recorded, with others yet to be recorded. The highlights would be Blue-throated Barbet, Collared Scops Owl, Pin-tailed Green Pigeon, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, Black-headed Bulbul (White-head Race), Black-throated Laughingthrush and White-rumped Shama.
In addition plant and orchid observation, butterfly watching, trekking on Mt. Kyaikhtiyo (over 1100m) and other mountain ranges, studying the Mon and Kyin ethnic tribe and visiting the world famous Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda are possibilities. The best time to visit is October to May.
