Myitkyina is located on the bank of Ayeyarwaddy, Nmaikka and Nmalikha River and is set in a broad valley surrounded by the northern hill of Myanmar. Vegetation is characterized by deciduous forest. Only 87 bird species with others yet to be recorded. Highlights for bird include Common Hoopoe, Long-tailed Minivet, Collared Myna, Hodgson's Redstart and Black-faced Bunting. Recommend to visit all the year round.
In addition butterfly watching, sailing in Ayeyarwaddy River and observation of the Kachin ethnic tribe are possibilities.
