This park (128.54 sq km) is Oasis of the Central Myanmar Dry Zone. The forest types are hill, evergreen and dry deciduous forest. Popa is home for Barking Deer, Dusky Leaf Monkey, Civit and many species of small mammal, and 176 bird species. The highlights would be Hooded Treepie (endemic to Myanmar), Black-billed Magpie, White-bellied Minivet, Blue-winged Pitta, White-browed Shortwing, White-throated Babbler (endemic to Myanmar), Spot-breasted Laughingthrush, Long-billed Wren Babbler and Burmese Bushlark (endemic to Myanmar).
