This park (128.54 sq km) is Oasis of the Central Myanmar Dry Zone. The forest types are hill, evergreen and dry deciduous forest. Popa is home for Barking Deer, Dusky Leaf Monkey, Civit and many species of small mammal, and 176 bird species. The highlights would be Hooded Treepie (endemic to Myanmar), Black-billed Magpie, White-bellied Minivet, Blue-winged Pitta, White-browed Shortwing, White-throated Babbler (endemic to Myanmar), Spot-breasted Laughingthrush, Long-billed Wren Babbler and Burmese Bushlark (endemic to Myanmar). Sandal Wood Fantalam album forest, plantation of indigenous medicinal plants (345 species), Michelia champaca of the Myanmar endemic tree species, the traditional culture, worships and numerous species of butterfly (especially Common Birdwing Troides helena) may be view. In addition, one can also trek on Mt. Popa that is a great extinct volcano with an altitude of 1518m, visit on a tower like volcanic plug and ride the horse in the natural forest around Mt. Popa. Recommend to visit all the year round.
