Day (01) Yangon (Myanmar) arrival day
Arrive at Yangon (formally Rangoon) international airport. Transfer
and check in the hotel for one night stay.
Day (02) Yangon - Putao
Morning fly to Putao (formally Fort Hertz) and takes about three
hours. Putao is a small town surrounded by
ranges of snow-capped mountains. It is located at the north part of
the Myanmar and at about 440m above
sea level. Upon arrival, transfer to the guest house for check in.
Then leave for bird watching. Here we can
see Large Hawk. Indian and Drongo Cuckoos, Scarlet Minivet, Oriental
Pied Hornbill, Grey Treepie. Dark-necked Tailorbird, Grey-backed and Long-tailed Shrikes,
Chestnut-tailed Starling, Crimson Sunbird,Oriental White-eye and many other species. Overnight will be at the
guest house in Putao.
Day (03) Putao - Shan Gaung Village
Today we will start expedition to Mount Hponkan Razi which is
located on the Himalayan Mountain Ranges in northern part of the
country and at an altitude of 3506m. From Shan Gaung to Mt. Hponkan
Razi where is land locked with no transportation except by footpath.
Vegetation is primary hill evergreen forest. This remote area was
visited only a few ornithologists until the early part of this
century and remains largely unexplored even today. Therefore here we
can see not only recorded Eastern Himalayan enigmatic specialities
but also many unseen species.In the morning, after breakfast short drive to Shangaung village,
this is about 19 km from Putao. There are about 100 houses and at an
altitude of 440m. After arrival, explore around the village to see
Red-headed Trogon. Crested Kingfisher, Himalayan Swiftlet,
Pin-tailed Green Pigeon, Long-tailed Broadbill, Hodgson's and
White-capped Water Redstarts, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Collared Myna,
Rufous-necked Laughingthrush. Buff-chested Babbler and Nepal
Fulvetta. Overnight will be in local house at Shan Gaung Village.
Day (04) Shangaung - Camp I
In the morning climb up to Camp I. From here we will have a
fantastic view towards the snow covered mountains along the Indian
border including the summit of Mt. Hponkan Razi. We will bird
watching on the way and around the camp to see rare Snowy-throated
Babbler and Blyth's Kingfisher together with Collared Treepie, Brown
Dipper, Little and Spotted Forktails, Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch,
Grey-cheeked and Rufous-faced Warblers, Slaty-bellied Tesia,
Chestnut-backed Laughingthrush, Grey-throated, Streak Wren and
Scaly-breasted Wren Babblers, Lesser Rufous-headed Parrotbill and
Fire-tailed Sunbird. Overnight will be in tents at Camp I.

Distance - about 1 1 km
Day (05) Camp 1 - Wasadum Village
We will climb down to Wasadum that is small village and has 20
houses. We will bird watching on the way and around Wasadum. Today
we can see Himalayan speciality Beautiful Nuthatch together with
Sliver-breasted Broadbill, Chestnut-headed Tesia, Spot-breasted
Laughingthrush, Coral-billed Scimitar Babbler. Silver-eared Mesia,
Rufous-throated Fulvetta, Long-tailed Sibia, Striated and White-naped
Yuhinas, Greater Rufous-headed Parrotbill and Fire-breasted
Flowerpecker. Overnight will be in local house at Wasadum Village.
Altitude - between 1,300m and 800m
Distance - about 6 km.
Day (06) Wasadam Village - Lonnadam Village
We will trek to Lonnadam village which is a small village. We will
bird watching on the way and around the village to see Ibisbill.
Wreathed I lornbill. Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon. Rufous-gorgetted
Flycatcher. Black-breasted Thrush, Small Niltava, Grey-bellied Tesia,
Rufous-chinned Laughingthrush, Slender-billed Scimitar and Spotted
Wren Babbler. Yellow-throated Fulvetta, Beautiful Sibia and Common
Rosefinch. Overnight will be in tents at village.

800m and 950m
Distance - about 8 km.
Day(07) Lonnadam Village - Ziadam Village
We will trek to Ziadam village with about 25 houses and the last
village on the way. We will bird watching
on the way and around the village to see near-endemic Wedge-billed
Wren Babbler and rare Rusty-bellied
Shortwing including White-cheeked Partridge, Black-tailed Crake,
Oriental Hobby, Black-breasted, Rufous-tailed and Eyebrowed Thrushes, White-browed Shortwing, Russet Bush
Warbler, Buff-breasted Babbler,Black-throated Parrotbill and Chestnut Bunting. Overnight will be in
local house at village.
Altitude - between 950m and 1.050m
Distance - about 9 km
Day(08) Ziadam Village
Explore to primary forests to see near-endemic White-bellied Heron
and rare Rufous-necked Hornbilltogether with Dusky Thrush, Large Niltava, Orange-flanked Bush
Robin, Green-backed Tit, Grey-sided
Bush. Brownish-flanked Bush and White-spectacled Warblers, Rufous-breasted
Laughingthrush. Red-billed
Leiothrix, Rusty-fronted Barwing, Black-chined Yuhina. Black-headed
Greenfinch and Brown Bullfinch.
Overnight will be at Ziadam village.
Day(09) Ziadam - Camp II
We will climb up to Camp II and birding on the way and around the
camp. Today we can see near-endemic
White-bellied Heron and rare Blyth's Kingfisher again.
Black-throated and Red-throated Thrushes, Golden
Bush Robin, Blue-fronted Redstart, Black-throated Tit, Red-faced
Liocichla, Red-billed Scimitar Babbler,White-hooded Babbler, Blue-winged Minla and Rufous-vented Yuhina.
Overnight will be in tents.
Altitude - between 1,050m and 1.300 m
Distance - about 9 km
Day (10) Camp II - Camp III
We will climb up to Camp III and birding on the way and around the
camp. Today we can seerare Long-billed Wren Babbler, Rufous-throated Partridge,
Long-tailed Thrush, Rufous-breasted Bush
Robin. Yellow-cheeked and Yellow-browed Tits. Grey-hooded Warbler.
Blue-winged Laughingthrush,Slender-billed Scimitar, Pygmy Wren. Golden and Black-headed Shrike
Babblers. Cutia, Red-tailed and
Chestnut-tailed Minlas. Streak-throated Barwing and Rufous-backed
Sibia.
Overnight will be in tents.
Altitude - between 1.300m and 1,850m
Distance - about 8 km
Day (11) Camp III-Camp IV
We will climb up to Camp IV and birding on the way and around the
camp. Today we can see Himalayan specialities Ward's Trogon and
Fire-tailed Myzornis together with Hill Partridge, Crimson-breasted
and Darjeeling Woodpeckers. Chestnut and Rufous-tailed Thrushes.
White-tailed Nuthatch. Goldcrest, Black-faced and Chestnut-crowned
Warblers, Striated and Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrushes,
Black-eared Shrike Babbler, White-browed and Rufous-winged Fulvettas
and Black-headed Sibia. Overnight will be in tents.
Altitude -
between 1.850m and 2.500m.

Day (12) Camp IV
Today we will explore to near the summit of Ml. Hponkan Razi to see
very rare Himalayan Specialities Blyth's Tragopan and Sclater's
Monal, together with Temminck's Tragopan. Hill Partridge,
Yellow-billed Blue Magpie. Spotted Nutcracker, Rusty-flanked
Treecreeper, Winter Wren, Rufous-vented and Coal Tits, Black-faced
Laughingthrush, Green Shrike Babbler, Streak-throated and
Brown-headed Fulvettas, Stripe-throated Yuhina, Red Crossbill and
Grey-headed Bullfinch. Overnight will be at Camp IV.
Day (13) Camp
IV- Camp III
Back to Camp III.
Day (14) Camp III - Camp II
Back to Camp II.
Day (15) Camp II - Ziadam
Back to Ziadam village.
Day (16) Ziadam - Lonnadam
Back to Lonnadam village.
Day (17) Lonnadam - Wasadum
Back to Wasadum village.
Day (18) Wasadum - Camp I
Back to Camp I.
Day (19) Camp I - Shangaung
Back to Shangaung village.
Day (20) Shangaung Village - Putao
Dive back to Putao.
Day (21) Putao - Yangon
Fly back to Yangon.
Day (22) Departure
City tour or visit to famous Shwedagon Pagoda, the city's primary
Landmark, with its magnificent golden stupa. Transfer to Yangon
International Airport for the departure flight at your flight time.

The above birding itineraries are base on what are essentially
popular routes for birders. It can be
shortened or extended.
All the date of itineraries include arrival and departure dates.
All trips are available year round, but we don't during June. July,
August. September and October as it is
too rain and wet then.

Fitness: The tour does not require a high level of fitness but
particularly should be in good general
health. Should you have any physical limitations please contact us.
Climate: At low altitude conditions are usually hot. At higher
elevation at Mt. Victoria conditions are
usually hot during the sunny day, but cool in the early mornings.
Raining conditions are unlikely but
possible. At Mt. Hponkan Razi conditions are usually cool. Raining
conditions are unlikely but possible.
