Indawgyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary & Ayeyarwaddy River

Day (01) Yangon – Myintkyina – Indawgyi (Lake) Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary

Morning fly from Yangon to Myintkyina. Upon arrival drive to Indawgyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary, birding stops en-route. Here we can see Common Crane, Collared Myna, Chestnut-tailed and Black-collared Starlings, Barn and Wire-tailed Swallows, Pied Harrier and others. Overnight accommodation at guest house.

Day (02) Indawgyi Lake

Boat ride on Indawgyi Lake, here will be able to see thousands of Lesser Whistling and Tufted Ducks, Ferruginous Pochard, Purple Swamphen, Common Coot and Brown-headed Gull, hundreds of Northern Pintail, Gadwall, Little and Great Cormorants, Egrets, Red-crested Pochard, Black-winged Stilt, Oriental Darter, Asian Openbill, Sarus Crane, Wooly-necked Stork, Brahminy Kite, Stork-billed and Blue-eared Kingfishers, Jerdon’s Bushchat, Chestnut-tailed and Asian Pied Starlings, White-vented and Collared Mynas, Plaintive Cuckoo, Striated Grassbird, Yellow-breasted Bunting and many other species. If we are lucky we can see very rare species which are Spot-billed Pelican, Lesser Adjutant, Black-necked Stork, White-rumped and Slender-billed Vultures and Greater Spotted Eagle. Overnight accommodation at guest house.

Day (03) Indawgyi Lake

Another day bird watching will be done on Indawgyi Lake. Overnight accommodation at guest house.

Day (04) Surrounding Forest Area

Drive to Semi Evergreen Forest site and bird watching on foot at forest area. On this day we will be able to see Greater Yellownape, Greater Flameback, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Blue-throated Barbet, rare Great Hornbill, Dollarbird, Red-breasted Parakeet, Thick-billed Green Pigeon, Collared Falconet, Oriental Hobby, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Rufous and Grey Treepies, Bar-winged Flycatcher-shrike, Blue-throated Flycatcher, White-vented, Collared and Hill Mynas, Sultan Tit, White-throated Bulbul, Little and Streaked Spiderhunters and other species. In the evening drive back to Guest house.

Day (05) Surrounding Forest Area

Drive to another forest site and bird watching on foot at forest area. On this day we will be able to see Lineated Barbet, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, Green-billed Malkoha, Yellow-footed Green Pigeon, Green Imperial Pigeon, Western, Eastern and Pied Harriers, Sarus Crane, Black Stork, Golden-fronted and Blue-winged Leafbirds, Long-tailed and Scarlet Minivets, Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher, White-rumped Shama, Chestnut-tailed and Black-collared Starlings, Bulbuls, Yellow-bellied Warbler, Crimson Sunbird and many other species. In the evening drive back to Guest House.

Day (06) Indawgyi – Myitkyina

Morning, drive back to Myitkyina. Overnight at Nanthida Riverside Hotel.

Day (07) Ayeyarwaddy River

Morning transfer to jetty and then continue to Ayeyarwaddy River by wooden boat for bird watching. Here we can see thousands of Bar-headed Goose, Ruddy Shelduck, Gadwall, and Small Pratincole, Hundred of Spot-billed and Tufted Ducks, Ferruginous Pochard, Common Merganser, Common Crane, Pallas’s Gull and Great Cormorant, River Lapwing, Pied Kingfisher, Oriental Honey Buzzard, Great Crested Grebe, Oriental Darter, Black Stork, Spot-billed Pelican and Sand Martin. In the evening drive back to Nanthida Riverside Hotel.

Day (08) Myitkyina – Yangon

Fly back to Yangon. Upon arrival, transfer to Hotel.
End of our service.

Accommodation: The guest house at Indawgyi is basic.
Climate: Weather conditions are usually hot. Raining conditions are unlikely but possible.
