Famous for different structure of thousands of pagodas & temples from 11AD to 13AD. It is the Birth palace of Theravara Buddhism. These monuments have wonderful art of mural painting, beat glazed plaques, skilful Architecture.

Places of Bagan
 
Bagan kings move their Palace for 4 times during the Bagan Dynasty. Now found 4 palace sites in Bagan.
1st at Yonhlutkyun, 2nd at Thiripyitsaya, 3rd at Phwa saw and last at Old Bagan. The Bagan people called the palace as Kunpyaukeaidaw (fine decorated large house) at that time. The exacarvation of palace site at Bagan in since Buddha Image at Ananda tample 1989 by archaeological department. At that time they found the hole of the palace, the brick wall, the main hall wall and a part of one Mon stone script. The researcher consider its may be the king Kyansit's palace called Zayabon. Now the excavation works strengthed the power with 150 men power for everyday.
The objective of the excavation is to make sure the site of the palace of Zayabon and to rebuild it on the honour the King Anawrahta, who built the 1st Myanmar Naing Ngan. The excavation got the research on 3 step depth of palace site. The 1st step of the wall line 3 feet depth is for foundation. The 2nd step about 5 feet depth in found some pots and the last step about 9 feet depth in found the round size brick wall for pole.
The deepest brick wall and hole of pole are the earliest built of the palace and the middle depth is the palace which built after 100 years of 1st built palace, the top level of brick wall and some pots are showing the last built of palace are the palace which built after destroyed the Bagan dynastery. This result is base on the site of brick, the depth of foundation, the walling system of the brick.
But for the deepest brick holes are not later than 11 Century and properly. Its be the palace of King Anawrahta. King Pyinpya also built his palace at the Southern part of near this site. King Kyansit also built his Zayabon palace at Northern part of near Shwegugyi pagoda. So this is considerable that the result is become whether it be king Anawrahta's palace or not. Now still under excavation for the definite result.
King Kyansit was a king of the palace builder according to Mon Stone script. King Narathu also built a palace according to Layeidawhtutkyi Stone script. There are also some record to discript King Narapatisithu built his palace after 100 years of King Kyansit built his palace.

Dhamayangyi (massive temple)

You can visit Dhamayangyi (massive temple) Thatbyinyu (highest one) Arnanda (elegant one) Shwezigon (Prototype of later Myanmar-stupa). Visitors can get Souvenirs such as lacquer ware, Thanaka (Myanmar cosmetic), Poneyegyi (Myanmar soy bean paste). You can see beautiful sun-set at Shwesandaw, Mingalarzedi, Bu-phaya.

Gawdawpalin Temple
Gawdawpalin Temple is one of many ancient temples gracing the plains of Bagan. Built in the 13th century, it is one of the largest temples in the area. Badly damaged in the 1975 earthquake, reconstruction was completed on it in the 1980s. it is considered the finest achievement of the Late Bagan Period.
Thatbyinnyu Temple  
The tallest temple in Bagan, Thatbyinnyu stands 61m. It is a classic example of Bagan's Middle period, built in the mid-12thcentury. It is among Bagan's most beautiful, ornate temples.
 
Dhammayangyi Temple Dhammayangyi Temple
Dhammayangyi is similar to Ananda but on a grand scale. Though interior passages were for some unknown reason filled with brick rubble centuries ago, creating an unsolved mystery as to why. It is an excellent example of ancient brickwork.
Gubyaukgyi Temple
Gubyaukgyi Temple was built in the early 13th century and has lovely stucco carvings on its exterior walls.
 
Sulamani Temple
Sulamani is a prime example of late sophisticated temple style, built in the Early period by King Narapatisithu. It has murals dating from the 11th and 12th centuries and is considered the Crown Jewel of temples in the Bagan area.
Arnanda Temple Ananda Temple
Arnanda Pahto is the masterpiece of Early Bagan style and is one of the most revered and best preserved Bagan temples. It has suffered earthquake damage but is totally restored and is a prime place of worship for Myanmar Buddhist.
 
Shwezigone Pagoda

Shwezigone was begun by King Anawrahta in 1087 but not completed until the reign of King Kyansittha. It is said to enshrine a replica of a Buddha tooth underneath its graceful bell-shaped dome. Its beauty was inspiration for stupas later built all over Myanmar.
Manuha Pagoda
Manuha Pagoda sits on a hilltop in Thirizeyabon, northeast of Lawkanada Port. It was built in Myanmar, era 419 and took 6 months and 6 days to build. Thahton King Manuha, with support of Anhawrahta King, built Manuha Pagoda with the hope of solidifying Myanmar Nationals with unity of the country and a hope for Sasana.
 
Alodawpyae Pagoda (Bagan)
Wellknown as wish fulfilling pagoda. Before King Kyansittha reigned the Bagan Dynasty, he arrived the victory ground and made solemn wish to be the king. When his wish came true, he built Alodawpyae pagoda at that place.It is convinced that a great earthquake hit through the central area of Myanmar Naing- Ngan about 422 B.C.
Mt.Popa
It is a cool place in the dry and hot plains of Central Myanmar and is 1518 meters (4981 ft) above the sea level. It is located about 50 Kilometers (32 miles) Southeast
of Bagan and about 7 miles from Kyaukpadaung. When you reach higher part of the Hill the cool breeze will get in to your lungs and will surely refresh you. You'll also be surprised to see rare fruits, and flowers in this dry Zone. On top of the mountain there are pagodas, shrines and monasteries of different styles all blend together to fit in on the peak. Some say it is Mt Fuji of Myanmar or Mt Olympus of Myanmar. The view from its majestic height towering over the vast dry plain is the most beautiful panorama.
